Have to pump the brakes

2005 SuperCrew 5.4 4x4

The brake pedal used to be a bit soft, but would work better on the second push. We had our brakes checked and they replaced the master cylinder. Everything seemed fine, then the next day they were the same. They bled the lines again and it seemed okay. Now it's back to the soft brake pedal on the first push, better on the second. What could it be?

Due to the ABS system, there's a specific procedure that needs to be followed to bleed the system - and it involves the use of a computer. Who did the work? If it's not a Ford dealer, they may not have the required equipment.

Did not know of that at all,,, I bled my trucks system traditionally with a friend and all has been well. Lucky I guess?

They mentioned something about specially bleeding the ABS, so maybe they did what you said. No, it's not a Ford dealer. Would they be able to do anything without that computer?

I honestly don't know if they can do it completely right. There may be a good workaround that doesn't involve electronics.

I'd take it back and have them look at it some more.
