How to repair cracked dashboard.

My wife noticed this morning as we were backing the truck out, that there is a BIG crack that appeared overnight in the dash, just at the piece behind that black tray in the center section, that goes to the vent.

I was hoping to maybe glean some ideas on how to repair this. Has anyone had this happen, and if so, how did you deal with it?

Will snap a photo and post it in a bit. I pretty sure you guys will want to see this...

I should also mention, these photos are embarassing. They top of the dash doesn't look anywhere near that dirty to the naked eye!

since its not very visible up there, I'd probably just try super gluing it. Once its dry, use a razor blade to scrape off any excess glue.

If it was on the face of the dash, I'd plan on replacing the broken piece. You could try junk yards to find an unbroken piece.

But like I said... since its way up by the windshield I'd just try gluing it.

Replacing that would be a bitch, its part of the main dash plastic...

The dashmat is already on order. Should have had it there in the first place...

Replacing would the beyond a female dog as it were. It's not really a field replaceable piece. I see some talk of this on Chevy forums, I guess they have more of an issue with the problem than we do... I can figure out how to bond / fill the crack that isn't the concern. It is color matching / blending that thing so that no one can tell afterwards. Yes I will dashmat this thing, but I don't want to take a hit on resale value if I need to sell...

That is kind of what I am trying to avoid. It's not a simple trim piece. It is the main hard plastic structure of the dash that has gotten bad on me. Getting the dash out of the donor truck and into mine will be a considerable effort.
