troyer performance trans cooler

Has anyone installed one of these on there 04-08 F150? If so how did you install it? Did you bypass the radiator or?

At least on my '04, the trans cooler is a separate piece from the radiator that mounts low, and in front of the radiator. I haven't tried the Troyer, but have replaced my trans cooler with a towing package unit... A little over twice the size of the standard one...

I made the same upgrade. New one just went in no change in fittings. You need a special tool to get the lines off. Can find the tool anywhere.

can you show a pic of the mounting location. Pretty sure I don't have one but I want to triple check. Thank you.

Mounts in the same location. Every 5.4 3V that I have seen has a trans cooler. The only difference is between options. The towing package coming with the larger trans cooler. You could also get a larger transmission fluid pan as well. If your going to tow and your truck did not come with the towing package thare are other things you are going to need.

Here is were you will find it. Not a great picture.

Bummer no photos of the tryoer peformance trans cooler. I already have the larger cooler. still isn't enough. Maybe need to get the trans pan cooler instead.

Maybe you could just put a fan kit on the cooler you have.

Why is the Ford F150 HD cooler not enough? How are you measuring the temp?

Having the same trouble here. I pull trans. temp. from my edge. I droped down the tow pakage cooler so it had more air and helped. Bought the Troyer cooler and just need to install it.

I have a temp sensor in the oil pan on the trans. also have one after the oil cooler. Getting to the point when towing the trans slips when it gets over 200*

200 to 220 should not cause problems. If it's slipping when it hits 200, your fluid is broken down. Get a complete exchange with a good synthetic ATF such as Amsoil.
