switch of keyless entry pad

I asked dealer to add Keyless Entry number pad at purchase - they added one of the stick on pads (see pics) - not what I had in mind but it worked. Now it does not work - battery dead and they are not replaceable.
so three questons
1) any ideas on how to remove the added pad - I do not know how they affixed it to the door- if I remove it will I have body/paint damage? if so I will just leave it ...

I would like to switch it out for the "factory" handle with the key pad that is integrated. I see them on Ebay for $65. i assume it will work as I have key fob entry - I pulled back seat and I have the module. I have not pulled the door panel to see if I have the plug...
Assuming I have plug in the door it should be plug and play? (From what I read here it is)
2) the "factory" handle from ebay is listed a "primed - ready for paint"
from what I can tell mine are not painted - just flat black plastic. Is that what "primed" means?

Thanks
3) is the code the 5 digit number below where i have obscured(security) the number? It does not match the code of the disfunctional pad.[IMG][/IMG]

It's stuck on there with double sided tape. Fishing line worked behind it will cut it off, then Goo Gone to clean up. You need to find out if you have the plug or not. You will need the 5 digit factory security code. Try to get the handle for your year and model. Are your other handles painted.

Some are plug and play, some have to be programmed by the dealer. I had the stick on and switched to the handle on my 2005. Dealer had to program it.

thanks Bluejay.

mine is 2008

I was hoping it was tape- ( not screwed through sheetmetal or silkaflexed)

all (other) handles are the same black plastic as the driver picture above.

I have the code - pulled back seat an took a picture (posted above with code blocked for security).

Is there any rhyme or reason to which plug and go and which require programing?

Can you share how muchthe programing cost?

It takes a special computer program that handles the vehicle body security. Normally takes them about 5 minutes. Some will do it free for customer relations, others charge between $60 and $100. When they did mine, there was a problem. They spent an hour to discover I had a ground wire broken or not connected. Charged me $100. I had installed the handle myself. It's not difficult and there are some threads if you use the search that may help.

No one has ever figured out a rhyme or reason, that I know of.
