Greentitan05 the 6.0 Powerstroke had a bunch of problems that have to be resolved in order to have a solid reliable truck that you can squeeze a bit of power out of. I'm doing what they call a complete solution from sinister diesel, EGR delete, Oil cooler and coolant filter kit, head gaskets, ARP headstuds, exhaust gaskets, new oil cooler, oil cooler screen, intake gaskets, O ring kits. Gotta take the whole cab off the truck to do all this to the motor.

Is it just the 6.0 with these problems? Once you did that, how much is it and how long would the truck last?

Every diesel with an EGR (and DPF and DEF) system really needs it taken off in order to last as long as it's supposed to, but the 6.0 are the only ones that have a bad tendency to stretch head bolts even when left stock. With all that done, and it's quite expensive to have done, should, in theory, last 300k+ miles like any older diesel would.

Well a low mileage KR 6.0 would land in the highest end of that range and still need $6k+ dumped in it for bulletproofing. And then there's no fun, not in my opinion anyway, of buying a truck that's already done. So I'd rather have a stock 6.0 to start with.

Yeah I'd rather build something to call my own. Having access to a shop with an account and the ability to do it with a friend cuts the cost of bulletproofing into less than half of $6k. I'm sold on the king ranch, I'm hoping I can get a day off work this week to make the trip.

Yeah, after I said that I was like, "Damn, he has no labor charge on cab removal. Lucky bastard!" I do most of my own stuff too, so I have no idea how folks can stomach the costs of paying someone else to install on top of parts cost.

Yeah I love to work on my own stuff that way I know it is done right. I really trust the guys working at Auto Empire as well, my last resort would be the dealership other than that nobody is messing with it. Last time I took the truck to the transmission shop to have some warranty stuff done they tucked my 02 sensor wires in my header, that is not a fun fuse to have blown. Fuse 34 = Limp mode, no a/c took me a day to figure out what was shorting out.

I just got my truck back today from having a shop put my lift on, and I had pretty bad anxiety the whole time they had it. Due to time constraints and some other stuff going on I was sorta "forced" to have a shop put it on, but I'd have much preferred to do it myself.

I didn't fully plug in one of my O2 extension when I did the long tubes, so I agree that problems involving that aren't fun! I really wouldn't want to have my truck go into limp mode though, damn.
