I'm gettin' the blues!

Well I wiped all of the green coating away from the back of the display with acetone and cotton ***** and it came off really easy.....took about 20 minutes. Then I covered the areas that I want blue with 2 layers of a blue cellophane that I found in a craft store.I thought about using blue LED's, but with a tight budget I decided to keep all of the original clear bulbs and use the cellophane. As soon as my new needles get here from US Speedo I'm gunna get this thing installed....can't wait It's all starting to come together.....this mod

And the center bezel insert that I wrapped in black leather

And the blues

Looks pretty sweet. I would think LEDs with a clear black board would be too annoyingly bright. Doing the entire interior?

Thanks! I've done my share of research on this and it seems that the LED's are so bright that there's bright spots and shadowed spots. Somebody in one of the threads pointed this out and suggested using some type of blue film, or paint, and keep the stock bulbs. That's where I got the idea from and man am I glad I did so much research....I think it paid off. I definitely plan on doing the entire interior...I did the gear indicator first. The only reason that the 1 seems brighter is because that's where the bulb is and I was directly above it when I took the pic. From the driver's seat all of the gears are the same color....I think it came out good. Can't wait to get the instrument panel complete and installed. Sorry for the grainy cell phone pic.

Thats slick. I would consider this task, but I don't really want to get that involved. Wonder if they make a more electric blue looking blue.

They probably do, I went to the first craft store and grabbed the only roll of blue cellophane that they had. After doing all of the research for as long as I did I was ready to get this mod going so I just did a grab & go, LOL!

I've wanted to do that with mine too. I replaced mine with a white face guage that looks good until you turn on the switch and see green numbers shine through. What did you use to hold the cellophane down?

Does anybody know how I could do this to my AC/fan/whatever unit? I want my whole dash lighting to be red.
