Violet Wire Problem Help

First of all, I know there are already threads on this but none are really helping. I have a 2006 FX4 5.4 screw and I believe I have the corroded violet wire problem. The radio won't turn on when the truck is started or turn off when the truck is off, key out and door open. However, the radio will turn on/off when the passenger side front door is opened. Also, the the window and lock buttons do not work on any door and the keypad lock doesn't work. Now from the other threads, this sounds like the violet wire is corroded as that has been the problem in other similar situations. I have pulled all the wires out, found the violet wire but I can't find a splice on that wire. I have looked on the drivers side rear sill from where it comes in from the front all the way to where it goes up in the rear of the door. Where is this splice supposed to be? I see other splices on other wires (black, pink, stripes) but not the solid violet wire. Is it supposed to be on the solid violet wire? If this isn't the problem, what else is causing this? Pictures would be great!

Thanks, Ryan

PS: Sorry for making another thread on this topic but I needed to ask questions on my specific situation.

This is a strange problem because from what i see in the diagrams none of these wiring circuits share any wires in common nor do any involve a violet wire. Im gonna print these out and take a harder look.

That's weird. When I first researched this, it sounded like a pretty common issue. Here is a couple links.

So I think I need to look higher up the pillars, I just need to figure out how to take those vertical panels off.

So I went back at it today. I am not finding any splice like that. checked fuses, relays, ground wires. I can not find anything else. The power lock on the passenger side works I found out, but not on the drivers side. Windows do not work on any door. keypad on the outside does not work. Key fob DOES work. I dont know what else to do short of taking the truck to shop and spending a bunch of money for them to try things out. Anybody have any help?

it sounds to me like you should be looking for a common ground wire to the drivers door. from what u said everything on the drivers door is dead.

i BELIEVE the windows are all dead because the master switch is the "brains" of the windows and it has no power, so the windows think there locked out.

when u use the fob does it unlock the drivers door?

uve already said the keypad does not work.

do you have heated mirrors? see if the drivers mirror heats up. if it doesnt id bet that you have a grounding problem in you drivers door.

it should be fairly easy to find the ground wire and start testing it with a meter.

Yes the fob will unlock the drivers door. I pulled back the rubber going into the drivers door and the big black ground wire looked to be fine. I don't have a meter to test with right now. Would the ground wire here also effect the radio turning on/off?

I have a Super Cab, not Super Crew, but I looked for that purple wire with the black cloth tape splice and I can assure you it WAS NOT there on my '04 SC. I literally unwound ALL of the electrical tape on all the loom on the left side including where the loom splits off behind the drivers seat, up the LR post and pulled the rear seat to check where the loom goes to the wall behind the rear seat. The splice simply didn't exsist on my truck. I rechecked and rechecked (have even built wire looms for cars) and there was no such splice on my truck.

Mods, can I please get this moved to the Electrical Systems forum? Maybe I will get more replies there.

its possible.

when the driver door is open does your dash register that the door is open with the door ajar light? when u open the door do the interior lights come on?

i would really start with the ground wire myself. get a (good) set of alligator clips and jump the ground wire from the ground on the door to a good ground on the truck, thereby bypassing the ground through the door gromet and seeing if its broken anywhere.

and u should really invest in a meter if your going to be doing electrical work. problems cannot always be seen with the naked eye.
