06 F150 5.4 4x4 owner here with issues (join the club right)

It rattles anywhere between 3-10 seconds on a cold start then quiets down. Doesn't have any power, misfires between 45-50mph like it is slipping in and out of od. Also when you try to floor it, pass someone or whatever the motor starts running rough and the engine light blinks for about a minute or so, then the the sound clears up and the light stops blinking. And last but not least the 4wd won't engage in low or high and no 4wd lights on the dash. All these things have been going on for the past year or so but have no clue where to start.

If its rattling on a cold start it could be your oil filter, What brand filter are you running? Should be a motorcraft. Fram filters are junk! Your second problem is plugs and coils.. As far as the 4wd someone will chime in im sure.

Start up rattle. Mine used to do it sometimes and I religiously use the M/C oil filter. I only notice it happening when parked on my inclined driveway. Now that I park on a flat surface it doesn't do it.

Weird, I know.

ONLY use the oil the 5.4 was designed for> 5W-20 only Semi-syn or full synthetic

Nothing is "wrong" with it, but Ford specifies 5W-20. If you have oil-related issues, you can't yell at Ford when you are using oil other than what Ford specified for your engine.

As for your 4x4 issues, read this thread first, then search on "IWE" and you'll find everything you need.

I would guess that the stumble just after OD kicks in is probably a COP failing. It usually rears its ugly head under light load in high gear. i.e. 40-45 mph, and light acceleration or going up a hill with enough throttle to hold speed, but not so much as to cause it to kick-down into 3rd.
