successful plug change
07 with 80k on it. my friend is a ford master tech and said hed put my plugs in for 100 bucks as side work. (and i buy the plugs of course)
he said ford wants them done with a cold motor, like sitting in the bay overnight cold. and no lubricant/penetrating oil. i know everyone says hot head and crack em open, ect. but he does these all the time and said he rarely breaks one, so i figured he should just do it his way. he uses an air impact and hammers on em till they come out. says being cold makes the plugs stay together better.
proof is in the pudding

one of them the porcelan is broken above the threads, he put a bore scope down in the head and said it wasnt in there. also he got bit by a mouse that was on top of my number 4 spark plug. i guess he was hanging out in my intake valley? he said it bit him, then he picked it up and threw it across the shop. hopefully he doesn't get rabies, or else i gotta cover that bill lol. asked him if thats ever happened to him before and he said actually more times than i would think.
anyways, i use costco/shell/exxon/bp gas (no sheets or wawa ever) and occasionally use seafoam or something in the tank. they dont look too bad.
truck was bucking and missing under load in 4th with the converter locked at low RPM (aka going up a slight hill) havent felt it yet. cant even tell its idling when your sitting in it now, you have to check the tach.

Damn thats good. Wonder if my '07 with 105k will be just as easy on me. Congrats man!
I would be pissed if I couldn't hear my truck idle from the inside, it still isn't loud enough for me.

The never-ending quest for the PERFECT exhaust continues lol...
Glad you did not have any trouble with the plugs, steed. Still happy I got the 4.6 for that reason. The dealership I'm working at now charges nearly $500 for changing plugs, regardless of 4.6 OR 5.4.

Good deal.... I am sitting at 68,000 right now in my 07.... Been having a mpg and power decrease these last 2 weeks... I'm waiting till 70,000 to change them... I have the plugs.... Did he use a ratchet or air tools?
Gonna have to grab me one of those next week..... Thanks!
