I am now the proud owner of a 2004 F-150 xlt. Last payment was made on 9/5/12! Ill be expecting my title soon. I wanted to buy a newer Camaro or a Mustang, but i decided to save my money. Maybe in a year or two ill get my car.

Sweet!

I'm about a year into my payments, and I already eagerly look forward to May 2016.

Hold off on buying another new car unless you just enjoy tossing out good money. Live life without car payments for a couple of years and put it into savings for a rainy day. Once you've done that, then save up for a hefty down payment on a newer (hopefully not brand new) car. It's just good financial sense.

Something to think about... My neighbor was always trading in cars, always had 2 car notes. Then the economy slumped, he lost his backside, both cars, and the house. Had he kept further away from the credit demon, he and his wife would have been driving older cars, but they would most likely still be in their house... Hope keeping her in a newish Benz was worth it!

SoonerTruck has good advice. Take that money you were pending on payments and direct it to savings. Think of how nice of a truck you can get in 4 or 5 years with that down payment and sale of your current wheels.

Drive your 04 till the wheels fall off (should be around 300k) by then you'll have enough saved up to buy what you want without financing!

Nice and Congrats! I've only made 2 payments on my truck... 46 to go lol. Well actually less as I pay a little extra a month... Oh well, I've wanted an f-150 fx4 since I first laid eyes on them in 2003 when the 2004 was introduced. Granted I was 12 then (only 21 now), I told myself I would own one someday. Many hours of hard work and saving paid off. It isn't the exact truck i wanted (yellow 04 fx4 flareside scab or a white king ranch) but I love it!

If I drive it till the wheels fall off I'll never get a new truck! Lol
Yea I think saving is the best thing to do. At age 19 I don't need two cars. Besides I got college to deal with, even though my parents kinda help me with that.

Congrats on your last payment. I say take the advice from some of the others on waiting for a new car and payments. I paid my truck off early as its been paid for since the spring of 2009. It was a good thing because by 2010 I got laid off and been working mostly temps jobs ever since. No new vehicles for me anytime soon even though I want one bad. I'll have to keep my old 05 with now over 100k going on for a few more years yet.
