Anyway, you're not screwed. It happens all the time. "Hey, my pinion seal is leaking" Go buy a new one and replace, right? I completely understand all the variables involved in a rear end. Pre-load, backlash, shims, tourque, math, etc... But! I talked to a mechanic that has done hundreds of Pinion seals... Don't get me wrong there is nothing wrong doing with all the pre tourque readings, measurements, etc... He, simply disassembles, replaced seal and torques pinion flange nut to 160 ft lbs. So, you're not screwed, proof is in the pudding and I have 350,000 on my 05 f150, 5.4 (which r supposed to suck, going for 500, 000&#128526.
