Cool OBX ups and downs

So this is my last night here in Frisco, NC OBX. Had a great time taking my truck, and my brothers truck out on the beaches...even with the new ORV pass at $50 for the week.

Buttt....after all that fun, today as I was leaving the house to go out....P0171 and P0174 jumped out and bit me in the ***... Luckily I had a break down bag with me, and we (Mom,Dad,Little Bro, and Girlfriend) crept to a Napa Auto. Cleaned MAF..no luck.. found a vacuum leak, fixed it with some new hose from Napa DAMNIT still not 100% of the problem, but definitely better. We decided to try the fuel filter, which by the way I had in my truck..with the tool to remove....UNTIL last sunday when I cleaned the truck to come here

When I got the filter out, it was rattling around inside the housing. Changed it and it was all better. The only guess we have is since it was rattling around...maybe it was being pushed against the outlet side and blocking off flow....who knows. Leave tomorrow and lets hope we get home!

Love the OBX! It was much better 20 years or more ago before so many damn people found out about the area though .... but that's how it goes!

I had that happen once on a '94 Chevrolet Caprice. I dropped the filter while putting it on and it hit the concrete floor under the lift. It was on a police car of mine and it hardly run after that change, before I even left the station lot and so we put it back on the lift and the filter was rattling when I took it back off. Put another on and no problems.

I always figured maybe the drop loosened the filter element inside and fuel pressure did the rest because in all the years and cars I've changed filters on .... that was the only time that ever happened .... and it was after a drop of over 6 feet?
