Where to get 4.56 gears?

Been mainly using the truck (04 4x4) lately to tow our new pontoon and am going to get a trailer to haul my tractors to shows (1938 JD Model B Unstyled & a 1936 JD Model AR Unstyled) and I feel the need for the lower gears now, running 35" Toyo M/Ts on 20" Fuel rims.

I think from what I've read Yukon is the brand to go with? I'm assuming I'll need an install kit as well? Never done this before. Just looking to get the better parts for less money here.

So where would you guys reccomend and what brand?

Thanks!

-Brent

I recommend you contact Wayne Hartwig at diffsonly.com. Great pricing and a great guy to work with. He was recommended to me by Marc Sallaberry (mSaLL150) and you can drop my name, Stephen Rivera. My Yukon 4.56s with master install kits were just about $1000.00 but that's with shipping and CA sales tax. Go to the website or contact him directly at info@diffsonly.com

Good luck!

Edit: Forgot to add that you need to shop around locally for a reputable installer. Marc recommend a shop to me and I recall paying $650.00 or so for front and rear.

Thank you! What kind of shops do the work? Like offload shops or just a standard mechanics shop? Not too much to choose from around here..

Yup! Wayne is who I got my gears from too!

Most shops should be able to do it. But I would try a offroad shop since they may have more experience.

Also, the master install kits front and rear would be a good idea.

Just checked out his site. The gears aren't that bad, it's the install kits they get you on! $600 bucks for the kits front and rear. 1,066 is my total before shipping. :/

I would give him a call and talk to him. My price was almost half that shipped! But that was also about two years ago so maybe prices have gone up alot.

Give the guys at East Coast Gear supply a call or check out their website. The sell Nitro gears, and did my install. Check out some of the 4x4 sights, and they are highly regarded. Chase is teh owner, and he actually drove my truck home to help put miles on it so I wouldn't have to stop as much on my trip home.

Randy's Ring and Pinion. You should only need a master install kit if you are changing bearings. If not, then a standard install kit is fine.

Exactly and let him know you're a member here. I am sure he'll give you a break over his web prices.

I actually have 4.56 gears for sale. I purchased some for my 2004 F150 4x4 and don't need them because when I bought the truck the previous owner had them already but didn't have the money to get them installed. I have them for the front and rear axle. Let me know if you are interested...

I ran Motive gears in my '01. Never had an issue with them.

Well I kinda talked myself out of them. For the price of the yukons through diffsonly with master install kits it would be dumb of me to get the motives. It was cheaper to get the yukons with install kits! So now I'm decided on that, now to just find a shop to install them..
