06 f150 stalling i

Help..2006 f150 4x4 w/ 5. 4 triton
Changed the battery couple days ago and starts up gr8. Once it warms up wants to stall at red lights and has low idle. Heard that the computer needs to be reset any ideas?
Have over 250,000 miles.

i just went through this after unhooking my battery for my Gotts mod.
Youre likely still in drive cycle and the pcm is figuring out how to behave again.
My 07 Screw did the same thing until I had around 80 miles put on it.
Now it drives like a champ again.
You may want to consider cleaning your TB if it continues however.

I had the same issue last month after I put in a new battery in my 06 5.4L and used my scanguage to pull the code.

I dont recall what the number was, but it was the pcm. I tried the code reset and it worked for a day or two and the code popped back up. I even disconnected the battery for 15 minutes and it worked for a day or two before the code popped up.

Ended up taking it to the dealership and they had to reflash the computer and stated my throttle body was very clogged up.

$120 bucks later and 3 hours of my time, it was all fixed, not a problems since then.

I don't undertand how my throttle body got all clogged up, the truck is 6 yrs old and doesnt even have 45k miles on it.

2009 stalling

I had this same problem on my 2005 and I purchased a new 2009 and I have 35k miles on it. This is the 4th time that I have had this issue in the last 2 years. When I take it into the dealership, they seem to care less. My truck is going in again on Friday. Can someone please help...... I'm tired of my truck stalling with my 6 and 4 year olds in the middle of intersections, and trying to get my truck going again to get it out of harms way. Thanks

These damn trucks have a narrow temperature window for the computer to learn in. I had this issue in palm springs and couldn't get a smog check/registration for 6 weeks cause it was over 90 degrees during the day and under 50 at night. I finally had to drive to LA at midnight for a 3 hour tour, a 3 hour tour. That did it. Food for thought.

I just solved ***KNOCK ON WOOD** this issue tonight. When i'd come to a stop the engine would stall. I cleaned the MAF and throttle body. The TB was caked with carbon buildup. After a bit of spraying and scrubbing with a towel it all came off. I then went ahead and cleaned the MAF, it was gunked up pretty good too. Took it for a 5-7 or so mile test drive, got on the brakes to a full stop many times and the engine never skipped a beat.

Exclamation possible resolution to stall issue

ok we all know by now that the TB gets dirty so we've gone thru and changed things like throttle position sensors cleaned or replaced the MAF sensor replaced the fuel pump master control unit, even replaced the entire TB to no avail. I've got 1 more suggestion before I say we take the vehicles back to ford en mass and tell them to park em where the sun don't shine...try replacing the idle air control valve.

1. This thread is 8 years old.

2. The thread is about issues with a 2006, which does not have a IAC.
