2012 efans

finally decided to change out my "ebay" fans and relay controller for the factory fans, and a progressive controller. The fans were no problem to get, controller however has been a 3 month long ordeal, first choice was the Painless F5 controller which fell through because of a major recall from painless on all the units, second choice SPAL PWMv3 is no longer manufactured, third choice DC control is on a 3-6 week wait, which brings me to the choice that worked out,

2 Flex-a-lite 31163 VSC controllers, wired for redundant operation and "staggered" turn on, the only thing i've heard about these is they tend to run on the warm side, which is why i've added a small heatsink over the mosfets of the controllers. (never hurts to be to cautious)

using the FAL 1 3/4" radiator hose adaptor for the 2 sensors

since mobile,al is one of the most unpredictable when it comes to weather, the install to be postponed due to rain, but have everything prewired using
factory plug on the fans, weatherpack connectors on the controller power leads. will post lots more pics when install resumes. here is a quick top view of the assembly pre wired ready to set on the rad.

finished project with radiator cover installed

these controllers are awesome- soft start, fully progressive.
I have them set to turn on staggered, inlet (hot) side turns on at 185*, outlet (cold) side turn on at 190*, initial turn on is 60%, as temp rises so does power to fans. After 10* rise from "start" setting fans are at 100%. when A/C is engage fans ramp up to 100% instead of instant on. and the fans..., just one of these fans pulls more air at 60% than both previous fans at full power.

fans came from tascaparts.com (dealer) I have a pic of the part number in my gallery, controllers came from jegs.com.
fans $210, controllers were $150 each.
