How I Beat The TPMS

Every time I change my summer and winter tires the stupid light comes on in my dash and I have to go to the dealer to get it to "re-learn" the sensors. I can't use the reset tool because they don't work for the 07's. So I got mad and decided to take the light out of the dash. It took 10 minutes and was so easy I couldn't believe it. Her's how it goes....

1. Take out the two 7mm bolts at the bottom of the panel below the steering wheel. pull the panel away it has two clips at the top.

2. Take out the two 7mm bolts at the bottom of the top panel. Get your fingers under the edges and start to pull towards you. there are some clips on the sides and there are three clips at the top near the windshield. lift the panel out and the instrument cluster will be exposed.

3. Take out the four 7mm bolts holding the instrument cluster in. Lift the cluster out - you don't need to unplug it - and lay it as flat as you can.

4. Get your fingernails under the black instrument marking cover on the left side and start to pull it up. It is glued down but mine started to pull away very easily. BE CAREFUL TO PULL GENTLY so as not to pop the gas gauge needle off.

5. The TPMS light is the second from the top on the left side of the cluster. Cut two pieces of black electrical tape and stick them to the inside of the black cover over the TPMS symbol.

I put two pieces of tape on because I could still see the light through one piece of tape.

6. Reassemble the dash panels and PRESTO! No more idiot light and you can't see the tape in the instrument cluster. I swear it took ten minutes.

No, I didn't take any pictures while I was doing this. But I didn't have any pictures and it was so easy I don't think you need any.

remove 4 TPMS valve stems from old wheels

Get a small piece of PVC pipe, and 2 end caps, oh and some pvc cement.

Drill a .453 inch hole in one of the end caps, insert 99 cent schrader valve.

cap one end of PVC pipe with cap, insert 4 TPMS stems.

Cap other end. pressurize to 40 pounds, toss under front seat.

And it doesn't work. Been there done that. Any trip over about 20 miles and the light will be on.

they way to beat it is to purchase the reset tool from ebay for $20 and just program like you program a new fob. Why pay so much for a nice truck to bootleg it

you didn't really beat it. You sucker punched it from behind then kicked it in the nuts. Piece of electric tape would have worked too.

I've never had to reset my TPMS when rotating tires... my Manual F150 must be smart or something...

when rotating you are fine as long as they are trained the same front to rear you will have no problems. But the OP was swapping wheels with sensors in each set not rotating.
