you need to do the key/brake sequence to get the truck into training mode. If mounted properly the TPMS sensors will be 180* from the valve stem. Hold the tool in that spot at the LF tire first and press the button and the horn will honk. then do the rest of the tires in this pattern LF,RF,RR,LR.

See I sold my stock 17s with the TPM sensons in them, I bought these 08 FX4 20s and honestly dont know if they have sensors in them or not.. the guy said they are stock tires that came on the truck when he bought it new but never asked about the sensors or him saying they still had them in them.. So Im guessing if these wheels have sensors in them or not, possibly could be. But is there a way to take it to a shop and have them reset it for me for free or a price? I thought maybe.. just take it to them and say I need them balanced and rotated and why your at it can you reset the TPMS?

if they are from an 08 they will have sensors in them, and any tire shop or dealer can train them for you.

07 up have TPMS. Ford changed the style in 09, from strap on to attach to valve stem. You will get the reset tool from the factory IF the vehicle you purchased has different recommended setting for tire pressure, with the front being different from the rear. That is for tire rotation, so it can be reset. If the recommended pressure is the same for front and rear, you would not get a reset tool.

I have an 07 F150 FX4 with two sets of tires and rims for summer and winter. Each set has it's own set of TPMS sensors mounted on the rim. I bought one of those $20-25 dollar reset tools off of Ebay and use it with each changeover..works perfectly every time. Makes life a lot easier when you have two sets of tires/wheels.

I work at a tire shop part time when Im not running my Lawn Care Company. If your Ford has band style(in tire TPMS) rather than valve stem style. You can take all 4 sensors and throw them in your spare tire and throw it back under the truck. Thats what we do when people dont want to mess with them, or dont want to buy new bands and swap them back and forth for the winter time.

That is all fine and dandy, and has been proven many times throughout these forums you WILL get the TPMS warning light after about 20 or 30 miles. The computer takes readings standing still and another reading while the vehicle is moving. This is why the PVC pipe trick will also not work.

UPDATE: can anyone confirm: Heard the FORD band type TPMS sensors are no longer available, you can now buy the valve stem type and they will replace them? I hope someone here knows, I am about to replace my tires and would love to get rid of these bands, I have nightmares about them coming loose and wobbling around in my tires
