2004-2008 Window Regulator Dorman 741-428

Well I just replaced my 2nd window regulator in the last 48 hours!! The window regulator is Dorman part # 741-428. The track guide on which attaches the cable broke. It seems that the plastic is very weak.

You replaced the same one? There was talk that the doorman part was better built then the OEM. Was just curious as I have been thru 2 oem units and was going to use the doorman if it happens again.

I replaced my drivers side window regulator about 3 months ago with a
Doorman and it's working great. I think it was around $90 at Advanced Auto.
I have a 2006 Lariat SuperCab. The CrewCab regulators cost about $125.

The Dorman I installed was heavier built than the OEM and worked fine.

That's a great price, if I had room in the garage that would have been the first option.

I'm not sure anymore if the previous unit or the unit I just installed is a Dorman?? The one that that broke the slides were made of black plastic. The one I just installed the slides were made of white plastic. Anyway, the new one seem sturdier.
