Spark plug change south Florida
Spark plug change south Florida
Anyone have any luck finding a decent price for a spark plug change in northern Broward county? I went to one shop that was recommended to me but they stopped when the plugs started screeching. They wrapped it all back up and didn't charge me anything. They got out the drivers side without any problem and the plugs looked good at 61k but they got scared off on the passenger side. The local dealers want 700 at one or 300 + 60 per broken plug( possibly 700 again).
The screeching is normal with many plug changes.....they just need to use a little more carb cleaner and work them out slowly. Shouldn't have any problems with only 61K on the clock. It can be a scary sound, but a normal one most of the time. I would guess that shop has had NO experience with the Ford 3v motor.

They have experience with these plug changes, from no problem to removing heads to remove broken plugs. They told me up front if they had any questionable plugs they were going to stop due to bad experiences they had. They called me 2 hours later and told me what was going on. They put it back together and suggested I try the dealer. The first 4 slid right out but the rest squeeled as soon as they touched them. I thanked them for being honest and not just ripping them out and emptying my wallet. From the looks of the plugs they probably don't need to be changed but I don't want to risk waiting until 100k.

I would say more like trying to avoid doing them at all. The head removal was years ago, I think they have now have an attitude of if they come out easy we will do it,any problem we stop.
I need to have mine changed as well being I'm around 75k miles. I just checked into having my changed at the dealer (in Central Pa) the other day and they quoted me 500-600 dollars if none of them broke. They also told me the code might need re-programed and my injectors might need cleaned. Sounds like they are just trying to squeeze more $ out of me but we'll see.
