2k round trip planned...

My 07 SCREW has 75K on the clock ) Plan on a 2000 mile trip! All maintainence is up to date and more. Gonna drop her off at the dealership for a oil change and balance. Anything else I should have them check out while its there ?
Plan on taking the basics with me , tool set, jumpers etc.

Lastly i got 285/65/18 nitto terra grapplers ( E rated) and normally run at 45 psi, should keep it there or adjust for the highway

Thanks

The Grapplers should be fine, but I run mine @ 50psi. I'd remove the spare tire lock and inspect the spare tire (inflation) before you take off. By dropping it down, you also ensure that the lock and the cable aren't seized. Brake pads/rotors good? Now, keep in mind that if the brake pads are up for replacement, I'd wait until after the trip to do it as you don't want a botched brake job to rear it's head 1000 miles from home!

Definitely check the FPDM while you drop the spare if it hasn't been replaced.

its doubtful that he'll have trouble in Florida... unless he's right by the ocean and exposed to salt that way.

But probably worth looking at...

I would also look into replacing the fan belt if it hasn't been done already.

It's not necessarily the salt. I believe the main issue is dissimilar metals contacting each other.

^^^tbear -- that has got to be one of the more unusual set-ups for these trucks I've ever seen! I would guess the overall number of Scab Flaresides is pretty small.....

Oh, I don't see enough of them to know. Any 04-08 & 09 Flaresides are rare around here, we (the wife unit and I) are allways on the lookout for Flaresides but they are rare signts. I see them both ways though. I know of only two others for sure that even park in the county.

In my experience, anything over 60-65mph is where the fuel mileage starts declining rapidly. Just an FYI. If you aren't on a tight schedule, keep the speed down and enjoy the ride.

If she's stock, look for about 18-18.5 mpg. I have SC FP 1865 and get best mileage on 87 Oct Perf tune (it'll break 20 mpg stop to stop, SG II and doing the math), and worst of all on Mileage XS tune (I was warned it often hurt in a truck, but I tried it once, going west, saw 16 mpg, changed it at first fuel stop back to 87 Perf)? That M-XS is so mild it kills response and you end up mashing on it more up here where we have "hills" (I was told it maybe helps some at lower speeds when steady in flat country?).

Second that .... and add a ScanGageII and set two of the readouts for MPG and AVMPG and set one for MPH so you only have to look one place, and make it a game to maintain steady MPH while maximising MPG and watch that AVMPG improve. You can do better than the cruise control, I know.

If you run from fuel stop to fuel stop without shutting down (you can stop to fill it when it's still half full, believe it or not, and pee, get a cup of java, stretch, etc. ) ... you'll find when doing the "miles devided by gallons math" that the SGII is "on the money" on these trucks. The only thing you train it for is capacity .... and I don't even bother with that.

I velcroed a pad on top of steering column with a small 4" long piece of thin wall aluminum I set it with. Move it from car to car or truck.

Going to Richmond,Va. My oldest brother had another boy, so making the rounds with my family to go see em. Not in any real hurry to break any land-speed records, so the gas thing should be good.
I do have a sct2 with 3 custom tunes from Justin. So now I'm wondering, is it better to use the 87 ( which I think is a economy tune- never used it) or the 93 performance tune, last one is a tow tune or put it back to stock

Over the road, I'ld definately run the 87 tune and gas to match.
