140,000 plug change

Changed the plugs on my friends 5.4L after 140,000 miles on the plugs. He had bought the removal tool prior to the attempt. 3 out of 5 broke, but the tool worked as advertised. Used grease on the removal threads and the threads showed no signs of wear after all was done. The gap was at .095 when we measured the old plugs, amazing it was still running. Also cleaned the throttle body and mass air flow while it was all apart, this was also pretty bad.

Wow ..... glad to hear it went so well.

Did your friend run any top tier gas or techron through the fuel system before the plug change?

If 3 out of 5 plugs broke then I think you missed 3 of the plugs! Haha

1) he ran SeaFoam through two tanks prior to the swap

2) Ops, Pennsylvania math strikes again, 3 of 8 broke.

Yep....seafoam don't help.....chevron techron or Gumout with regane or berrymans b12 would've been far better.....hopefully you changed the oil afterward.....

He said that the truck hadn't run that well in years. Oil changed afterwards.
