HELP Please. Buying a used truck with broken mirror, and shifter.

Im looking to buy a white 2007 fx4 crew with the leather/luxury package, 20s, and 56K miles. The current owner cant afford it anymore and is selling it at a good price. He is not mechanical at all and has all maintance done at ford.

The drivers side mirror is broken from folding it forward too far he claims. It broke the cap and he took it off an covered it with tape? It is the power fold, heated, puddle lamp, signal mirror. From ford they are $600+ to replace. Im wondering if the housing is the same on all the mirrors and I could get a standard power mirror used and swap all the internals over or maybe just the cap. Would probably PTM the caps when replaced. The mirror still has all functions, and works fine.

Also the shifter trigger is missing on the center shift, he says it still goes in out of gear fine but doesnt lock into gear. Looks to be a $70-80 part online. How hard are they to replace? Im going to do the work myself.

Here are some pics if it helps anyone. I don't know if the cap on the mirror is broken or the whole housing. I will be looking at the truck later this week and wanting to be informed before buying.

Any input is welcome. Thanks in advance.

Check with the guys at www.tascaparts.com. They sell OEM Ford parts at a good price.
Also found this link on their web page -

Ive been reading/searching a bunch on the mirrors but haven't found if you can swap the housings around yet. That will save me alot of cash if I can.

the Tasca site has been giving me errors on my cpu and phone. Looks like 400 for the new OE mirror from them though.

BTW

Lifted5.4lariat Nice truck will def be doing the ptm mirrors/maybe flare if I get it now.

Thanks! You can usually find a complete set on here for under 200.. They are no where near 600.

Just look around for deals on mirrors. I picked my set of power/heated/signal mirrors local for $150, and recently saw power tow mirrors listed for 300 a set

I've seen a good bit of new in box shifter tops on eBay for $50 or so.

Saw the shifters on eBay last night. Contemplating doing the mark lt shifter conversion too.

Any more in put on the housing interchanging between mirrors. Found cheaper complete mirrors so far.

If he hasn't fixed these items and can't afford the truck I question how well the rest of the truck has been taken care of. You need to pick it up for less than trade-in value to get a bargian.

find an aftermarket mirror. There are plenty of places that sell them.

As much as I like to send business to my friends at Tasca, a factory mirror is going to break the bank, where an aftermarket is 1/4 of the price.

I use them all the time in my shop. If you don't have a friend in the business who can get you one from Keystone, Empire, or one of the other big aftermarket companies, try http://www.1aauto.com/1A/Mirrors/For...Truck/-/-/2007

The shifter can be found at TascaParts.com, 5l3Z-7C488-K, but it is such a low dollar part the shipping will kill you, buy iy local for about 20 bucks.
