Gotts Mod, which version did you go with?

Hello all,

I'm going to be doing the Gott's Mod tomorrow and am deciding on which way I want to go about it?

I'm referring to the end that goes into the fender well. I'm not sure what would be the best way.
Either sand the ABS to form fit, or use a 3" female coupler and downspout and wedge that end in the fender well?

Here's a link of the down spout option I am referring to:

http://forum.gopowerhungry.com/faq.php?faq=faq_f150_tips

I'm not really wanting to spend the time sanding the end down to fit the fender well, but of its a better option I will. This way seems to get more of the ABS in the well. (3" like the stock tube)
Where the down spout will only have about 1.5" in the fender well.

Any and all opinions welcomed.
These two versions seem to be the most popular online so that's why I'm deciding on these 2.

Thanks guys!

I sanded, and had the truck back together in 30 mins. I'd do it that way again, if needed.

Also, using the coupler and down spout might seem easier but I noticed it will create ridges in the inside, where as the straight ABS will provide a smooth through design.

Decisions, decisions?!

I used thin wall pvc tubing used for drainage and a 4" to 3" fernco coupler.

Thank's for the replies guys!

Sam, the Spectre tubing you posted looks clean. I'm guessing that ridges won't really have an affect an air flow as the Spectre tubing is full of them and this piece is designed specifically for an intake?

However I already have The ABS tubing, coupler and down spout. Just not sure on which way to go still?

I might just go ahead and use the couplers as I don't think the ridging created will have any affects.

So it looks like my plan is to go with the coupler & down spout into the fender well and the other end into the stock accordion sleeve.
I'm for sure set on that end as the accordion sleeve is flexible and will help with flex as the motor is running/revving.
I guess I would say again that the only concern I have with this way is that the down spout end will only go into the fender well about 1.5" vs the 3" I could get the ABS to go in.
I haven't heard any negative feedback on this from those who went this route so we will see?!

I came accross this thread and wanted to share it here.
It's regarding the down spout portion of the Gott's Mod.

Since I was planning on running this method, I thought it would be important to share it in this thread:

Looks like I'll be shaping the ABS to fit. I know it's more time but it's also just more durable and is also less parts to worry about. Kinda like how a straight axle is compared to IFS, less parts to break and more durable. Lol
