Clicking noise when 4wd is engaged

Hey guys, I've had all kinds of problems with my 4wd system including finding out my front axle in the wheel bearing was broke when I bought the truck. This has been fixed but just the other day, I needed my 4wd and I engaged it then started moving and heard a loud clicking noise. I originally thought there was a stick caught underneath but looked and found nothing. The actual 4wd is working but it sounds terrible and something must be wrong. Does anybody have any idea how to tell what is broke? Thanks!
