"Growling" at high speed?

Anyone ever get a loud "growling" type of noise from the rear end at 95+ MPH? I don't know if it's my wheels/tires or the axle work I had done last year.

That growling your hearing is likely your driveline saying "back off or I'm outta here". That's what happens when you combine a long and relatively thin-walled driveshaft with a 4.30 gearset. Any minor imbalance or flex in the shaft, or imperfection in a bearing or ujoint, will quickly make itself known, usually right before it enters Dynamic Disassembly mode.

So do you think it's mostly the driveshaft, or the combination of the gears, lowering shacks, and the OEM driveshaft?

I lol's at that

:
Driveline angle changes, higher driveline speeds, a slight misalighnment in the diff - any of those could cause vibration at speed. It's one of those things that's tough to diagnose without actually riding in the truck.

Take it to a reputable driveline shop and buy the shop manager a cup of coffee to drive around the block with you. Maybe they can get you pointed in the right direction.

It only does it when it's close to 100 MPH, so he might want more than a cup of coffee.

Lmao

How do you get them to troubleshoot for this?
Punisher -"I am going to need you to find a long, dark street..."
Shop - "Why's that sir?"
Punisher - "Cause it only happens over 95mph"
Shop - "Really? I am not sure if we can accommodate you..."
Punisher - "Well what ever you do don't keep it at 88mph for too long, I don't know 'when' you will end up...."
Shop = "Security please come to the front."
