All of the V8 trucks (4.6 or 5.4) will have "Triton" on the fender badge. If it is a 4.6 it will only have "Triton" under the F-150. The 5.4's have the trim level and "5.4 Triton".

The exception is the FX4. They only have "5.4 Triton".

There's also the rather rare STX with a 5.4. They also would only have the "5.4 Triton" badges. Though most STX's have either a 4.2 V6 or 4.6 V8. The V6 models only have F-150 on the badge with no mention of the trim or engine type. The 4.6 V8 models will have the F-150 Badge with "Triton" along the bottom.

The King Ranch and Harley Davidson trucks have their own special badges and don't have any mention of the engine on them.

If it doesn't say Triton one of two things happened:
1. The truck has a 4.2L V6
2. The fender badges have been replaced and whoever did the work didn't use the right ones.
its cool, i wish i had cruise tho lol but 5 of my 8 i have had did not have cruise and the ones that did, 2 of the 3 stopped working soon after i got the vehicles. and i saw one just today actually that did not have the engine on the emblem. i asked him what engine it was and he said 5.4 but the badges only said triton on them. it was apparently an XLT and was an 05 ext cab 4x4. he said he bought it brand new in 05 and there were no accidents. i swear ive seen a couple that just said triton but they were 4x4 screws. i remember i was behind an 09 style and the 04-08 style was beside me. i was telling my girlfriend i wanted to get the 09 style emblems on my truck and was showing her the difference and thats when i noticed it only said triton on it. did they make screws with 4.6s?

I'm assuming it was possible to special order the STX with the 5.4, but the only one I've ever heard of with that setup in an '04-'08 truck is Intrinity, a member on here. He swapped a 2v 5.4 into his Scab '06 STX.

There was a special package that got you a 5.4 and 20" wheels and tires on a STX. Don't remember the name of it, but I have seen a couple of them over the years.

I know they did a Limited Edition STX here in MS in 2006, wondering if that is it? It had a "Limited Edition" decal placed under the regular STX decal....
