Did I get scammed?
Nice looking truck, looks a lot like my 2006. Make it tan and the bumpers chrome and that's my truck.
I'm surprised you could get a 2008 as a certified pre-owned, I thought that was only for 1-2yr old trucks? Was it certified by Carmax or by Ford?

I plan on switching to a single-DIN chassis since I've found that there isn't a whole lot nooks for all my assorted swag.
That's the one thing I miss about my 2005 Pathfinder. It seemed to have cup-holders and cubbie-holes galore.

Im almost positive all XLT's have chrome bumpers so something is odd there but I dont think they made an XL or STX supercrew.
The wheels dont mean anything. My XLT came with cheap looking chrome steel wheels but I found a set of the wheels on the truck in the pics on Craigslist for $150 and put them on. My truck was also 3 years old at the time.

They did in 08 only. Also all supercrews came with power windows and door locks standard, no matter what trim level it was built as. It looks like the previous owner upgraded the truck by adding painted bumpers and XLT wheels and fender badges.
Something was drastically changed... xlt mirrors (could get them on loaded stx's though) the xlt wheels, chrome grille surround... if that's an xl, which it can be because the offered the screw in xl in 2008, that previous owner put some serious time into that truck. Looks fantastic
Hence why I posted you need to copy, and paste the link, DO NO CLICK THE LINK. Copy, paste, and add your vin immediately after the = sign without spaces, hit enter.

This is how it was explained to me, and when I enter my vin at the end, it worked like a charm. If you just click the link, you will get that "file does not begin..." message.
As stated, the previous owner went to a lot of work to make an XLT out of an XL. Definitely no full body color bumpers on an XL or XLT. Also, cruise was standard on XLT. If it had a 5.4 3V under the hood that would settle it. Very nice truck and my complements to whoever did all that work. They made a LOT of changes to the STX over the years, (what was or was not available on it) but I don't think so much to the XL.

You cannot click on the link I posted. The link had MY VIN at the end of it, and would have taken you to the sticker of MY TRUCK.

There was never an STX SuperCrew (still dunno why), so that has to either be a XL Screw that someone put an extraordinary amount of time into, or an XLT that someone painted the bumpers and put different grille/tires on.

Entered the link in, http://services.forddirect.fordvehic...icker.pdf?vin=1FTPX*****KD*****, not clicked on it. Doesn't work for me. Must be something in IE configured to not let it go. Thanx
My guess is the previous owner played with it. Painting regular XL bumpers is an extremely easy mod, and finding a carpet out of a wreck somewhere and installing it yourself is a no brainer. Many, and I do mean many of us around this forum modify these trucks to make it look like something it's not. The XL is about as cheap as you can order them, and a quick bumper paint, and carpet transforms it quickly into a it of an FX look. Badges can be gotten of ebay for dirt cheap, or from any wrecker of choice. perhaps the previous owner was a tad ashamed of the "XL" badge, and figured if he changed it, he could look a little richer to the untrained eye. Kinda makes me wonder what else may not be the same.
Perhaps try copy and paste .... http://services.forddirect.fordvehic...icker.pdf?vin= .......... and after the = sign, and without any spaces enter your VIN. That should bring up the original factory sticker for your truck. Compare that to any and all current options, and it should spell things out for you a little better.

This appears to be the original sticker. I don't have the original, but was provided a similar sticker by the dealer which appears to be what is provided on Ford CPO vehicles. Looks like I've got an XL for sure. Does anyone know what the "Preferred Equipment Package 502.A" includes?
