Rim question??
Rim question??
I'm looking to get a set of the ProComp 7031 series rims in flat black for my 08 f150. My question is would the 17s or 18s stick out past the body further?
The 17s have 4.75" BS and -6mm offset.
The 18s have 5.00" BD and 0mm offset.
Any help is appreciated!

Stock backspace is around 7.5", so the 18s would stick out 2.5" further than stock and the 17s would stick out 2.75" further than stock.

Aren't the stock 18s only 7.5" wide? I know the 20s are 8.5" wide and have 6.2"BS, so a BS of 7.5" is way off I think
watch your offset! That is more important than width.
The width is going to be split proportionally by the amount of offset and in what direction + or -
I forget what the factory offset is off the top of my head, but if you don't maintain that distance you will have rubber against the frame rails especially on the front end. You will hit the frame before you hit the steering stops in the box.
As you go wider than factory spec, you need to add to the offset to keep the inside of the tire off the frame.
IMHO you need 6 inch backspace and 32MM positive offset to fit an 8.5 inch wide wheel without lifting the truck
BTW you can buy some really nice wheels direct from Centerline off their "overstock" page, when you call to order give them a fake business name and they will knock some money off the price, IIRC I got another C note off mine, maybe more. I got 4 wheels, centercaps and lug nuts for a grand shipped to my door. They have a lot of choices for size and type of wheel, and they tell you if they fit without modifying the truck or not.

one word of warning, no matter what wheel you get, change your brake pads especially on the front to ceramic pads. The semi metallic pads deposit iron dust on to the wheels that will make it real hard to keep them clean and undamaged. I have not had to clean my wheels all summer after I swapped to ceramic disc brake pads. It took me 4 hours with a die grinder and buffing cones to clean the wheels last fall after putting 5000 miles on the wheels with the factory brakes.
