Driving up the road.. and it feels like I ran over something, every once and a while.

Felt it few times now, I can't duplicate it, nothing on the road, seems like something is binding. It's scaring the crap out of me. It's a 2005 f150 supercrew.

It's just a little bump, I push the gas, and lay off thinking it might be a universal, but no way can I make it happen.

any ideas?

Thanks

Is is coming from the engine / driveline, the brakes / wheels, or the suspension?

It could be that the spline of the drive shaft needs to be cleaned and lubed.....

It's like a bump in the road. Must be coming from the suspension. You feel it and I watch the rear view mirror and nothing on the road.

How do I clean the drive shaft spindle?

What's being mentioned is also known as "driveline clunk" and requires that you remove the driveshaft from the transfer case and lube the slip yoke with teflon grease.

The symptoms of the clunk are usually on take off from a stop...you can feel the yoke lock up with the transfer case causing the clunk. I've dealt with this on a previous vehicle and NEVER felt the clunk while normal driving...it's always taking off from a dead stop. Does sound like what you are experiencing? If so lubing the slip yoke is worth a try. Your local Ford dealership should be pretty familiar with this goop.

If not, something sounds likes it binding up on you. Have you checked to see if you broke one of the sway bar links on the front end?

I'll check the sway bars, I broke the front spring and rear spring so that's possible.

I do feel that drive line clunk from time to time, the local coffee shop is on a slight incline, when people stop to turn into the drive thru and i stop behind them I feel it as i take off then.

thanks

Well i found the problem the hard way, a brake pad was coming off on the front wheel, ruined the rotor when it finally went
