Not according to my owners manual...

I'm not sure about those who said disconnect the battery... generally, the only time you mess with the battery is to weld, change out the ECU, or to reset the ECU. Other than that, you just leave it alone.

As a side note, you don't need to do much of anything to change the fuel filter. Just pull the blue tab, push on the release, and have a rag around it and a bucket down below to catch the fuel. I've done it like 15 minutes after my truck got turned off... it makes a nice psssst sound as it sprays fuel in the rag, but no big deal. It is not like dealing with hydraulics or high pressure diesel fuel injection systems where there is risk of pressurized fluid injection into your skin -- which is indeed dangerous.

Just don't have a lit ciggy in your mouth when you do it, and you'll be fine. The only other safety devices I'd wear would be nitrile or latex gloves, and safety goggles. But I just do it with care with a rag and a bucket, and I've never had a problem.

That's all you need to do. Hold a rag over it when you do it, it will bleed all the fuel pressure off.

I replaced the computer with one from a salvage yard. I had the tech come back out and still could not get comunications to the PCM. We got it narrowed down to the smart junction box...or fuse box (under the glove box passenger side fender). Opened it up and notice that the circuit board had a burned out spot. I think if I replace this....it should resolve the problem. Just trying to find the part for a reasonable price. Don't know if 04/06/07 models will be compatible or not. ... The search continues...

I don't know about the 05 my, but the 07 5.4 has no valve on the fuel rail to relieve pressure.

Yep, same here. I do wear safety goggles and hold a wrag to catch any slight residual pressure, but it ain't never much.
