Unhappy Please help!!!! :(

I was in the process of changing my fuel filter on my 2005 f150 with the blue clip.. well the blue clip was broke and it was a pain to get it out, in the process of trying to get it out, I broke the black plastic piece that holds the clip!!! and now the fuel filter wont stay in place and when you turn the key on it pressurizes and shoots the line off!!! What can I do?? I'm stranded!

Got any medium sized nylon type "Zip Ties" that you can lace through part of the black fitting and catch behind the lip on the fuel filter to lock it in place temporarily until you can get a replacement fitting?

They do make replacements.

Or you could use 4 "zip ties" if at least two are like 11" or more.

Slip fuel fitting up on fuel filter.

Take one (red) and wrap a time or two around fuel fitting back behind where it's broken, towards rear of truck. Hook it but leave some loose for now.

Use another one (yellow) and wrap a time or two around the fuel line in front of the fuel filter and likewise, hook and leave some loose for now.

Take two longer ones (blue) and lace through each of the other two and hook these.

Once you have all four "zip ties" in place, scoot the long ones (2 blues) to opposite sides, so one is on the left of the filter and one is on the right side of the filter (truck's left and right).

Tighten up the ones actually wrapped around the fuel line in front (yellow) of the fuel filter and the fuel line behind the fitting (red) where it's pushed up on the fitting barb.

Once these two are tight, tighten up the two longer ones (2 blues) to hold the fuel fitting up on the filter.

I have never replaced one but i think you would have to cut the line before the connector and use a:

union - http://www.oreillyauto.com/site/c/de...1715&ppt=C0290

quick connect replacement - http://www.oreillyauto.com/site/c/de...eyword=800-054

obviously verify that connector is the right size. I think the connector comes with a union, but that is what I'd be looking for. I don't think you can save the existing black connector but I could be wrong.

I thought you was stranded and needed a fast temporary repair ? What I posted will get you going.

Is there another connector right behind the onle that broke? Like below? If so, get a new "section". You can find replacement fittings at NAPA / Advance / O'Reillys / Auto Zone. I believe your's is 5/16".

Glad you weren't smoking!

Feel free to double up on the "blues" or wrap the "red" and "yellow" three wraps for extra
security. "Zip Ties" are cheap and extra don't hurt.
