Water on Driver Side Floor boards
Water on Driver Side Floor boards
OK I know of the issues with water getting on floor boards on the passenger side but have not heard of it on the drivers side before. At first I thought that maybe I hadn't gotten my cab lights sealed well from the install I did. So I pulled the headliner down expecting to see some water run out but got nothing it was dry as a bone. We have been having lots of rain these last few days so it still would of been there if that was the issue. Now before I get the lights working earlier this week I had one minor leak at the cab lights but tat has been fixed. I guess this water could of been there from before I got it fixed and I just didn't notice it but that doesn't seem likely to me.
Anyone got any ideas as to what else this water might have come from?
Thanks

Does it have a moon roof and if so .... is it usually parked fairly near level or on steep grades?
There is a trough around the opening to collect seepage and channel it to a drain hose but it's gravity dependent so that if it's too steep in the wrong direction ... if a heavy downpoor ... if seepage occurs ... the water may not find the drain hose before it finds an easier route to the floor.
Many years ago as a young trooper, I moved here from NoVa and rented a house with a hill drive way. There was a parking spot that was meant as a turn around that went straight up a little hill.
One day after a rainy weekend off during which I had parked my PC out of our way near the carport, I found water on some gear in the trunk. Seal wasn't bad, but in looking .... the angle of the parking spot and the fact that I had backed up into it so the rear was highest meant water did not drain from the area under the trunk lip across the front of the trunk below the rear window .... and some leaked.
After that, when using that spot to park for any period of time, I pulled it up into the spot front first.

I do have a moonroof and my driveway is not super steep but it isn't level either. But if the water seeped in then it should of ran towards the back and not the drivers side for my drive. Now my office is a completely flat surface so I guess it could of been there that water got in. Who knows as long as it isn't coming from something under the dash or a lot of water I am fine with a little bit on the floor from time to time.
Thanks

I had wet carpets on both sides a while ago after sitting in a heavy rain. In searching this site and others many suggested the 3rd brake light leaking as the cause. They said that the water ran down the pillars on each side of the rear window and collected in a channel that runs the length of the truck under the plastic sill plate. I was skeptical, but I lifted the sill plate and the channels had water in them. I still didn't think the cause could be the brake light. I dried the carpet and channel and the next time a heavy rain was expected I put paper towels everywhere I thought the water might come from. Kick panels, a bunch under the dash, around the doors and in the channels at the back end. The only towels that were wet were the ones in the back of the channel. I siliconed the heck out of the third brake light and problem solved.
Oh I know about the 3rd brake light but its only wet on my drivers side that's why it caught me off guard. I already have a new light on order for the 3rd brake but thanks for the response.
