Been looking into a few swaps for our trucks and I had 2 in mind wich were a 5.4 2V swap and a Kenne Bell blower swap from 99-04 Mustang GTs and realized the biggest prob with it is the throtel bodys on our trucks (drive by wire) so I started thinking that all we would need is an adapter and to keep things simple all you would need is a plate (about 3/8s) with the same bolt pattern as the throtle body and one to match the intake and weld the 2 together by an inch long pipe that has an inside diameter that matches the largest opening. And some hardwear and your done. After it's done it shouldn't be any harder then installing a throtle body spacer.
Might not need to... The KB site has some info relating to a gen-2 Lightning w/2V 5.4 and one of the KB (2.8) SC installed. The 5.4 2V swap has been documented as a doable swap for the 2V 4.6. The parts may already be out there...
Ya I saw the right up on the 5.4 swap, he used inteke adapter to use the4.6 intake on the 5.4 with the throtel body adapter you can use the 5.4 intake. As far as the blower swap for the 4.6 2V in my truck I still wana look into it to see if their any other differences between the two. I would personaly rather go that route to keep as many origanal parts as possible.
StarBanger if you get any results please share them. I'd also like some more power out of my truck and after seeing the 5.4 2V swap, I've thought a lot about going that route, but a s/c'd 4.6 2v would work great too

I haven't really looked into it enough I'm sure, but I don't understand why you can't just use an s/c for a 4.6 2V mustang besides clearance issues

Ya my spelling is ****y and I make no excuse for it. But if I can find a good deal on a KB blower for a 99-04 GT I'm going to atempt this swap. As far the5.4 sc swap I might as well buy a lightning motor and drop that in. But I wana keep it as close to stock as possible so the intake swap blower is the road I want to take.
SoonerTruck: We have 2V 4.6L's, and the only doable motor swap is a 2V 5.4L. Either way, you're ending up with a 2V motor. I've yet to see anyone do a valve swap on a newer F150 and if that was doable, might as well go to a 4V
Far as I'm tracking, it's never been done. But then neither has an S/C'd 4.6L 11th gen, or a valve swap, or, until recently, a 5.4 2V
I think the main thing is that most folks just have the "trade up" syndrome. It's much easier to just trade a 4.6 2V truck in for one with a 5.4 3V then to do a swap and handle every little catch that comes along the way. Another thing is money. Leave the supercharger out for a minute, I for one can find an older 5.4L 2V with low mileage from a scrapyard for around a grand, I can't even find an 11th Gen at the local yards to get mirrors off of, let alone a motor, wiring harness, and possibly axles and a transmission.
If I had a ton of money just laying around for a great swap, I'd skip all these options altogether, grab a salvaged '11, and put a new EcoBoost with all the perks under the hood. Unfortunately, I work for a living

The original transmission still bolts up/works also (but NOT the tq converter- use the 5.4 TC). Only a few minor things require fab work for the 2V to 2V swap. And a tuning tweak to make things perfect. There will be no nightmares about spark plugs, cam phasers, etc. either. More than one person has done the swap. Depending on the age/mileage of your truck, and how you aquire your 5.4 (and what other mods you get for it), the swap can be way cheaper than "just getting" a newer truck. Plus the "look what I did" factor. A little research online will show this is very do-able.

i stumbled upon this thread cause i want to bolt the gt500 TB to the lightning upper. its a gamble, but so was the 5.4 swap
