To whom it may concern: Overhaulin 4R75 transmission with TCI 438960 kit.

I just received my 4R75W transmission installed in my 2007 FX4 truck, full overhaulin with 4R70W Super Pro Kit 96-up 438 960 of TCI. This kit fits perfectly with the 4R75, you should only buy the band for the decline and the operation of the overdrive which is installed in a 4R100, to give greater strength and better action. My mechanic tells me that this change is effected to avoid this coupling and uncoupling the overdrive, which is one of the great problems of this transmission. The discs are made of Kevlar, a material far superior to the OEM, so life should be increased considerably. I have a few days driving the new transmission and I must say I am impressed with the improvement in displacement. If I start strong, with the pedal to the metal, to make the change from first to second squeak is heard as rubbers, the changes are dry, there is no slip, it just feels a slight bump, but if you notice the movement is faster and feels great. I think it is an interesting option to consider for anyone who has to make a overhaulin your transmission.

Not having any issues yet, but would like to beef-up the tranny at some point.
Leo, are you saying that you need the band out of the 4R100 as well as the TCI rebuild kit?

I just had transmission work a few months ago on my 04' because I lost overdrive. I ended up having to just replace the overdrive band which didn't require pulling the trans. I talked with my mechanic about doing that very overhaul and it's advantages but decided not to overhaul yet because my transmission only has 54k and still shifts very well. If I had 80-90k+ miles I would have gone with the overhaul kit. He was telling me that these transmissions are undersized for these trucks and it is basically the same trans that is found in a Lincoln Towncar that is lugging these big heavy trucks around plus big tires, etc. Enjoy that newly overhauled transmission.

The transmissions are just fine for the size of the truck. There are very few complaints of these trannies failing in any vehicle.

we see allot of them on here, i know the first place people run and bitch to online is forums such as these, but there are a good reported number of failures of these transmissions.

if you ask me i think people are pulling, stumping, doing burnouts and all kinds of other stuff to make them go prematurely

do you have any reading on these transmissions, or can i see where your getting your facts from. not calling you out, just want to do reading on these 4r75e's

There's probably no more reports of tranny failure on Ford forums than there are of tranny failures on GM, Chrysler, Toyota, and Nissan forums.

I believe that other manufacturers also produce cars with various problems, and perhaps the transmission of trucks and other heavy vehicles tend to be damaged very quickly, perhaps because insufficient use for which they were designed. I know many people with Trucks Dodge , Chevrolet damaged transmission with only 60,000 miles, at least in my country, but not to mention front and elsewhere. I believe that Ford wanted to solve this problem and therefore install this great 6-speed transmission in the 2011 model, we must seek ways to improve our special 4R75, personally, I resolved this Kit TCI 438960 , after installing operation of the transmission took a dramatic change, even in response to the acceleration is much faster, I feel the difference.

My truck was babied since it was new and it only had appox. 52k when I lost OD. I'm not saying that these transmission are not exactly sufficient for these trucks but there they could use some improvement. The owner/guy at the transmission shop has been doing it for 30+ years and has repaired/rebuilt/replaced many of these over the years. I was told that in 04' Ford had to change there design to compensate for better fuel economy standards so the trans was in a way "downsized" from the previous generation/design. I'm not hating on Ford by any means, it is the only brand vehicle I've ever owned and ever will own. Just passing on the information that I received.

My mechanic also concludes that the problem of these transmissions is the overdrive, in fact, now, running at speeds below 50 mph, disconnect the overdrive, even if I see that I can maintain speeds approaching the 50-60 mph, continuous it offline, if I pass that speed, it reconnects. All this to try to extend the life of my transmission, TCI has so Kit Kevlar discs and you have replaced the drive with a larger overdrive, I'll try not to take risks.

Again, every car from every manufacturer is going to have people with different experiences. Some transmissions will go 200K miles taking abuse and no maintenance and some are babied and die after 20K miles. There will be variables, but, in general this transmission, nor any other auto tranny that has been in a Ford truck since the 70's has been a point of concern. The C6, the AOD, the 4R70, etc have all been "good" transmissions in that they aren't particularly short-lived (i.e. Dodge) and are well-suited to the job. My only real point was that while adding the TCI kit will help change the characterisitics of the tranny shifts, the tranny isn't known for failure and the addition of the kit may or may not extend the life.

When you search for info, rebuild kits, upgrades for the 4R75E, I don't find very much, anyone have any info with regard to the 4R75E? Fact is when I look up the part number for the 4R70W and search parts web site for 4R75E stuff all I will find is a manual and maybe a filter and gasket.

Sorry I had not responded because he was on holiday parties, concerning the transmission 4R75E, I have no knowledge but I dare to be sure that it works equally regardless to have some slight modification, I mean, the aforementioned TCI kit is produced for 4R70 transmission and parts used to rebuild the 4R75, I might add that works wonders, the only thing I suggest is, this kit brings a drill to drill the valve body, in my case, for towing, I do not think you should do, the changes are very abrupt and, at some point you get tired. In my case, I will return to the OEM valve body. TCI If you ask, they answer you do not know if you can use your kit, I have it in my truck and I'm very happy.
