3"/5" Drop with 24's- 2007 FX2

Hello,

I currently have a rear shackle kit with 22's but fixing to purchase the 3"/5" drop from summit racing and upgrading to 24's.

My question is what a good low profile tire measurement, so that I do not bend or damage the rims. I also don't want to get a tire with a huge height that ends up killing the dropped look. I understand their is no "perfect" answer or size, but looking to see if any members have advice or experience with their truck or know of someone, etc.

If anyone has 24's on their truck with a drop please post pictures so that I can see more or less what tire sizes you have and your experience or recommendations. I want to try and get this right the first time.

Any help, suggestions, pictures are appreciated.

Thank you,

295/35r24 or 285/40r24 would both fit good. 295/35 will be a little shorter so with the 3/5 drop you might want to go with that so you they won't rub as easy.

24's seem to be a perfect fit for 2004-2008 models.

Be careful dropping the FX2, it has an extra block in the rear that most drop kits don't take into consideration. I ran into this problem with the JDM rear kit even after telling them I had an FX2, and ended up having to get extra parts (front shackles) and using my stock rear shackles to get the proper drop; it was (too low) without them.

Can you provide some more details? I have this kit in my garage waiting for some time for install and now it looks like I need a few more parts.

Thanks, Clint

Clint,

If you didn't get the front shackles, it will actually sit lower than the advertised drop. I'll try to load a couple pics, but I'm out of the country so I can't specific pics for you. I ended up using my oem rear shackle to get the height I liked.

The first pic was the flip kit w/o the front shackle and kit supplied rear shackle. The second pic is the way it sits today with flip kit, front shackles and oem rear shackle or "hanger". I know it's a crappy pic, but I think you can see the front shackle in the second pic (gray). I'll try to look for a better pic showing the front shackle.

hey jet pilot how low are you up front with the beltch struts and also do you ever get any vibrations in your truck at any certain speeds....and i liked the way mine sat in the rear with the djm flip kit the only thing i didnt like was that i had to remove the two bolts holding the factory leaf springs together in order to install the flip kit.... and since i did that sometimes when i put my truck in reverse i hear a loud clunk and when i am hitting about 50-60 and i floor it there is a very weird vibration that i get or sometimes at low speeds and i floor it i hear the clunk i think its something with my drive shaft....and i have not yet shimmed the carrier for the pinion angle dont know how to do it or wat shims to get...any help would be greatly appreciated....i to have the saleen 23 inch wheels on a 305/40/23

Rev,

I have removed and installed those Beltechs so many times trying to get the "perfect" height, but I ended up with no spacers, making it a 3" drop. NO, I don't get any vibration in the front end. I'm willing to bet, it is most likely your wheel/tires. You HAVE to find a good performance wheel shop to get those balanced properly; there is no way around, AND no matter where you go, make sure they have a Road Force Balancer AND USE IT!

I do have a slight vibration in the drivetrain from a rolling start, but it immediately goes away right after you get going. We think it's a combination of driveshaft and pinion angle. I ordered a one-piece driveshaft to replace the 2-piece before I left and it's sitting at the house now. I plan on installing it and adjusting the pinion angle when I get home.

Regarding the "clunk", I actually do hear/feel that once in awhile, but not very often. I haven't been home long enough to investigate and it so rare, it hasn't reached the "high priority" list.

Oh okay, then it is probably the pinion angle and/or carrier bearing height/angle.

Regarding the front shackle, I had to have it because mine had the block in the rear and without it, it was too low in the rear. And with the 3" drop in the front and the Saleens, I get VERY slight rubbing when turning the wheel all the way and on big/bad bumps. Because the wheel is 10" wide, there is no way around it at 3" unless you want to put the 30mm offset wheels on the front. NOT ME!!

You can see the "block" in between the leaf spring and axle pad in the pic. You can also go here to see much more.
