Never thought this was possible, huge chunk off my Fx4 Wheel!

Well saw this yesterday at work and I can't manage to figure out how it happened since I haven't gone off-roading in a while, and it was fresh.......what do you guys think?

Thankfully I had a full size spare FX4 with a tire to swap on.

Looks like you ruined the sidewall of the tire too. Going to be an expensive ordeal.

I guess I should say I live in NJ....pot hole haven.....I don't think there's a curb big enough to clear my 33s and hit the wheel...at least I haven't seen one and rarely do since I mostly do highway driving....which puzzles me.

It doesn't matter if the tires have good tread, if the sidewall is damaged the tire is ruined.

Looks like a pothole as you can still see the scuff marks on the side wall closest to the treads. Sidewall is def ruined.

That, my friend, tire shops are kinda scared of. I have seen tires blow off the rim with a chunk missing like that. Just pull the valve core. Tire is definatly looks like it is junk though.

Aftermarket wheel isn't it?

I've seen factory wheels bend lips, break axles and even flip vehicles and still not break like that.

I think it's the stock wheel, just painted.

I'd also say the tire's shot. Just a reason to upgrade wheels and maybe tires!

Oh, maybe so .... now that I look closer, I guess you're right. It took a "whack" though. Looks thin in the picture, the wheel lip that is.

Yeah, tire's toasted.
