F150 A/C problem pinpointed.. need advice

Coming home from Angel Fire yesterday my Auto Climate control in my F-150 got stuck on heat after needed to use the defroster in the 36 deg. mountain air. No matter what setting/ temp I have it on it blows air hot enough to burn your hand. I have researched and found out that it is the motor that opens up the door that directs the air. It got stuck in the position that sends all air through the heater core. The bottom of the box gets cold so the A/C does work... it just isnt flowing the air right. Also, in vent mode ( even at 80 deg outside) it still blows extremely hot air.

How hard is this replace? Can anyone with access to All-data ( or any other online repair manual) give me the step by step process to replace this?

2007 F150 Lariat.

Thanks in advance! And yes, the 12 hr drive home through West Texas was absolutely miserable yestereday with temps ranging 108-110 for atleast 5-6 hrs of the trip.

If you're talking about the blend door actuator motor, it isn't that difficult. There is not a lot of room to get to the rear bolt, but removing the radio and glove box door was all I did to change mine.

My 2008 F150 had the same problem with the actuator motor. I was able to purchase the replacement part online for $25.00 and it took about a hour or less to replace.

+ 1. Just replaced mine last Friday. Hardest part was squeezing my big paws back in there with a tiny wrench.

HVAC works 10x better now!

Not too hard to do, I would Not recomend getting the part from Napa their blend door motors have poor reliability We got 2 bad ones in a row lasted less than a week replaced with Motorcraft no more problems.
