'07 5.4 FX4 83k miles

At extremely light throttle (maybe 1/8) cruising in town at 25-30 mph, sometimes when the truck shifts from 2nd to 3rd, the engine will rev up a few hundred RPM then catch the next gear. Nothing abrupt, but it is still strange. This only happens at light throttle, only that shift, and under no other circumstances. A full transmission fluid exchange had no effect on this happening.

Any ideas what is causing this?

 

Check the TSBs. I found one for my 05 that says a reflash of the computer may solve this same issue. I am not sure for your 07...6 speed right? Good luck!

 

^^^ 4 Speed !! And yes, go see the dealer for a PCM flash. My 07 did the same thing before the flash...don't know if there is a TSB on that or not.

 

Thanks for the idea, although question: do dealerships charge for the PCM reflashes?

 

If out of warranty.......Yes..usually and hour labor rate, Unless it's part of a re-call issue, and this isn't.
