2004 Lariat ready for the big trip
2004 Lariat ready for the big trip
7 years and 127,000 miles later, my truck still looks good. If I had a garage, I bet it would look even better, but it's been sitting in the weather all it's life. We're going on a huge trip next week - from Cincinnati to Mt Rushmore, Yellowstone/Tetons, Rocky Mountains, Kansas City and back home. 2 week adventure.
I replaced the fuel pump driver module already since it was falling apart (thanks to everyone who previously told me to check it!). Fresh oil, fresh brakes, fresh wash, wax, Rain-X, Interior detail, etc...we're ready to roll :-)

One more. I'm really happy with how well the interior is holding up. Especially the light colored leather seats. I also LOVE the Husky liner floor mats. I'd never go without them now.
Oh and for the trip, I'm also taking my tool box, spare light bulbs, fuses and various fluids. Hopefully I won't need any of it. I doubt I will. Maybe windshield washer fluid but that's it.

I love a nice road trip, one where the destination is not the only goal, but the getting there and back is fun too! Some gorgeous country ahead of you. It's fun in a F-150, even if a little more expensive. We usually travel in our '01 Merc GM, but last year took the Red truck to Indy via Charleston, Wva, and back via Ohio / Pa / Wva / Va.
Mileage on Merc on road is mid 20s, truck was right at 19 overall but would have been nearer 20 if I hadn't played with tuning. Motels are happy to see you now too. I sure could stand a Navajo Taco from out west !

I don't do it often (no more than once or twice a year), but when I do use (if I remember the name right) Meguiar's One-Step Leather Care. It's sort of a thick cream colored stuff you squirt on a rag and wipe on.
The wax I used on the paint is this (a lot of rubbing!) http://www.meguiarsdirect.com/detail/MEG+G7014J

From how well you take care of your truck... If you don't mind the suggestion take a look at thedetailerscafe and read about more in depth detailing. You seem like the perfect candidate for a Dual Action Polisher (DA) and even regular waxes are easier to go on and you get better results in less time too. You can even remove swirls if you have them. Might be something up your alley
looks great. keep on truckin. i like how those matts cover the hump in the middle. nice to see more lariat column shift trucks.
i like the overhead console stuff too thats nice.
anything break since youve had it? no trans problems?

Nothing major since I bought it new in 2004. The dealer replaced the clutch pack in the rear end early on under warranty. I replaced both front window regulators (they broke). Really it's just been the usual routine maint. stuff. Never been stranded anywhere and it's always ran great. I seem to have a ticking coming from the passenger side exhaust manifold. It has that exhaust ticking sound for less than 2 minutes until it heats up and expands the metal to close the gap. I guess the manifold may have a crack or something is not connected well. It's been that way for a few years and hasn't gotten worse. It hasn't bothered me enough to have it fixed.
