SeaFoam
SeaFoam
Hello, new to the Fourm, I was always a Jeep guy and just got my first F150,
I have a 2007 F150 XLT iwth 5.4. I see seafoam is a cleaner but is it necessary? is it better than other products on the shelf which I alsways thought were just a gimmick. Any help is appreciated, I only have 45,000 miles just wanted more info on this product since I see it mentioned on this site a lot.

Good grief! Use the Advanced Search and look up what Labnerd has to say about Seafoam. I feel sorry for whomever bought your truck.

Here Bluejay, I'll bring a single post that has a very simple explanation from Labnerd.
I've seen it help out two vehicles and plenty of small work engines...but Labnerd brings up a very good point in one of his older posts involving the ingredients. I'm not sure about the Berryman yet, I'll have to see what's in it.
I was actually surprised how many threads were titled "seafoam"

The only thing that removes varnish is from the Keytone family of solvents. Seafoam contains none of the Keytones. Want to remove varnish, use Berrymans B12. Seafoam contains zero cleaners, it's a 20 viscosity pale(light) oil, naptha, and Isopropyl (rubbing) alcohol. If you can find pharmaceutical grade alcohol at 90%, mixed with ATF and a splash of naptha, you just made a far better cleaner than Seafoam ever could be. At least the ATF brings cleaners to the mix.

x2. For some reason, Shell was a whole $.10 cheaper than my Murphy's even with the WalMart $0.03 discount
This is one reason why never to buy used. I've met a few people in the past whom had the know how and really cared for their things. If they didn't know how, they cared enough to learn.
Lesson 1:
"Reading the back of a can and trusting that, makes you a gullible idiot."

I'll rephrase that, "can make you a gullible idiot" . That's about the best I can do. Since marketing with Half Truths is more less legal. Chemical's used may even be rounded off in a sense. So ? Well, the only way to know what your buying and realize it's ACTUAL effects is from someone experienced in field that's non-bias. Labnerd wears those shoes.
I can't believe you ran it in the crankcase or that they marketed such a product, as a type of preventative from -

What they have is a product that won't hurt the engine IF, used as directed. I believe that's the criteria that must be met for the EPA to give the nod. It's a good scam for someone, not for us. If I remember right, they were charging $12 a can lol.

I remember because I almost bought a can until I really read up on it.
I seen it for $12 at the same place. Correction, - that's for their other stuff and not for the crank case. That stuff the booster line will drink right up, if given the chance.
