What programmer do you have?

I've been out of the loop for a while because I sold my truck a year ago, and now I'm looking at getting another one, and I think that a tune is the best place to start once I get one. I had the Xcal2 with Troyer tunes, with my 07 5.4 and I liked it but I have been looking at the SCT 9600 Livewire and I really like the features and abilities it has.

Ive got an Edge Evolution on my otherwise stock truck and I like it. I dont feel that I need custom tunes for a stock truck, especially since all I was really trying to do was change shift points and gain a little power from a dead stop.

You will still benifit with custom tunes over canned tunes, even though you are all stock.

I have the gryphon and really like it, I got it before all the fancy color touch screen stuff came out, but at the heart of it they are pretty much the same thing. I love having the multi display to monitor things I do not have OEM guages for. I do highly suggest browsing the chips tunners and programming section https://www.f150online.com/forums/ch...rogramming-34/

Ok, what is the difference between the Gryphon and the Edge? They look exaclly the same! Also, I read that the Edge CTS does not give you the option to adjust WOT shift points... is this true?

i bought an edge cs and then learned of gryphon on here, so i gave em a call and got it converted and also some custom tunes

edge has canned tunes that work on every truck, a gryphon has custom tunes specifically designed for your truck, and there is a big difference between edges canned tunes and gryphons custom tunes

they are the same, advantage is you can get a custom tune on a gryphon where you can't on the edge.

personally i'd stick with SCT, check out five star. seems everyone is impressed with them so far. i loved my vmp tuning on my 07 though.

Well couldn't you just get a Edge CS/CTS and get custom tunes later? That would make it a Gryphon, right?

And yeah, I like SCT. I always had a good experiance with them, but I like all the features of the Edge CTS and I'm looking for a programmer that I can expand with later down the road. I know SCT makes a CTS (8900 I think), but I don't see anyone using one or talking about them. I really like how the Edge has the option for a back-up cam, among a lot of other things.

No need to get Edge product, you then have to get it upgraded to accept custom tunes, just go this route: http://www.gopowerhungry.com/_gryphon_cts_gas.shtml

if i had my time back i would have bought it straight from gryphon, even then you get their canned tunes which are better then edges and you can always upgrade later.
the sct is probly pretty good aswell, never delt with them, but the one thing the edge and gryphon have is the ability to keep it plugged in and watch engine vitals or monitor random pressures and sensors

I have an original Edge Evolution custom tuned by PHP. They did this just before they came out with the Gryphon.

Do yourself a favor and just get a gryphon. i started with an edge evo thinking i would not want custom tunes. Boy was i wrong. I should have just gotten the gryphon from the start.

I have the Edge, converted to a Gryphon. Would not want to be without custom tune and the display. I rely on the display.

I don't know, I really like the big CTS and the monitoring abilities the gryphon has. Is PHP the only ones that make custom tunes for the gryphon? And can they make me a tune for a supercharger or turbo later on if I decide to go that route. I know Troyer has a lot of experence with supercharger tuning, and plus, Troyer makes an awesome value body for these trans! I had one on my 07 with his custom tuning and it was rock solid!!! I loved it! I'm sure he's the only one that really knows how to tune with it, since its his. Does anyone else make a value body like this?
