Pics of Painted Mirrors Please

Ok, I promise I did search, but all I could find was pictures of the painted caps only. I have the one piece covers and am thinking about spraying the whole piece Aspen Green to match the truck rather then just the cap, and was wondering if anyone had a picture of this done on an 04+...not green specifically, any color?

thanks for instructions that I didn't need, I really appreciate it.

Now if you read the post, you would know it said NOT just the caps, but the WHOLE mirror backing.

I used google, and didn't come up with much as far as the whole mirror back being painted, just either the mirror cap, or the entire assembly including the mounting piece. After 5 pages, only ONE picture came up on a silver truck, and I was hoping to find a picture on a darker truck that would stand out less, like what fine_style directed me too

here's my opinion on the project. either just the cap or the entire thing needs to be done. theres a reason only one picture popped up when you searched, it looks well.. goofy. the cap will look more oem while the entire thing can sometimes look cheesy or great depending on color of truck and what else is PTM. again, just my opinion and if you dont agree then so be it.

Depends on the truck color. TheNewBreed had it done and his looks very nice. Here's what I could do. Have the mirrors painted gloss black (fill prep and sanding of course) and then the cap painted the color of your truck

I hear you man, everyone has an opinion and I respect that...honestly I haven't decided what I'm going to do yet. I found one picture of a silver one done and it looked horrible IMO, but I think it was because of the color contrast with the black...I think my Aspen Green would pull it off better since its a very dark color...still got some thinking to do, but I do appreciate your input!

Yea yours look awesome, especially with the darker grey. Your truck is beautiful in general!

as dark as your paint is doesnt stick out like a sore thumb so it does look decent. and yes, most mirrors that are fully painted do look cheap and cheesy. i personally think mirror caps are the best way to go because of the classy oem look. however, each mod has its ups and downs and every person is different..

Magic,

I agree with Daniel that the whole mirror being painted is a rare, and indeed, strange sight. My gf and I were riding through her town this morning and I saw a 2010 F-150 with fully PTM Oxford White mirrors and it just didn't look right. I just did my own mirror caps about three weeks ago, and I'm happy with the results--had I DSG'd the whole mirror I don't think it would have turned out as sharp. But that is why there are so many different trims on the F-150, so that guys can mix and match and just play with their trucks to their hearts content. I told my gf that I honestly think the whole purpose of the STX is to give guys like me that don't want to screw around with a $50,000 truck the option to build something that is truly theirs, and most of the STX trucks around here all have distinctive features. Anyway, I'm getting off-topic here...after looking at your pics I think it adds to the truck and looks great. Kudos!
