Just a thought.
Yep, that's what I meant in either option #2 or #3.
To be clear, options #2, #3 and #4 all get you a driveshaft that you can replace u-joints on like normal.

Then make good use of your old DS by clobbering the guy in the head with it, that designed that abortion.

04-06 Ujoints

Take a dremel with a pointed deburring tool, grind those nasty little. Crimps away drive out the worn out old Ujoints.
Install 2006 Chevy Silverado Ujoints, they are the same size as what you took out and cost approx $15 ea.

http://www.drive-lines.com/ujs/bpujs.php?vendor=Neapco

#3-0488 Visteon staked Neapco (comes with cutter tool)
2004-05 F150 Staked U-Joint repair
Cap OD = 1.066
Across Caps out - out = 3.787

http://drive-lines.com/parts1.php?pn=3-0488 looks like web price $84.04 each.

In all of their listings, no other U-joint looks to be a shoe in for substitution.

What was Ford thinking with this one???

That was posted 10 years ago, bub. Your 2006 uses standard u-joints, 2004's do not. Read the whole thread.
