PTM questions and opinions on color

I want to get everyones thought on what color to PTM on my handles. I have a silver truck with the dsg (I think) bottom. I want the fender flairs in the dsg...but I am tossing the idea around to do my handles dsg too....or would yall do the silver to have them blend in with the upper part of the truck.

Also can I just buy these already painted or do I have to bring them to someone to sand and paint?? If the only option is to bring them to someone...what should I expect to pay.

Thanks

Silver for sure then remove pinstrip and level!

I think you can buy the Mark LT handles already painted in silver. Check tasca parts. The other option is to have yours painted and yes they will need to be sanded down first.

I just picked up a spare set of screw handles that I am going to sand and have painted for my truck.

Silver was my first thought...but then the dsg thought popped into my head....but I was still leaning to the silver.

With the Mark LT...does it matter what year or any of them will fit the 05 f150? Did they have painted fender flairs that would also fit?

I see this listed for silver handles...but it just has left and right not front and back...and nothing about the keypad?

And the fender flairs I see this...nothing about color...and only right and left again. Maybe im not looking in the right spot...

you'll have to call Tasca to make sure about the key pad, and front and rears. Regarding the fender "flares", you actually want the wheel opening moulding. The front and rear are different along with left and right.

The rears are under the "pick up box" section further down the list of parts.

Dont DSG the handles, no no no. I'd pick up a set of stock handles and have them painted silver to match by your dealership. I dislike the chrome handle on the LT handles. Carolinaboy has a set of Supercrew handles with keypad drivers side for sale. Snag them from him, get them sanded and painted by your dealer. I just did this with a set of Supercab FX4 handles I bought from a member. They were the standard texture type like you have, like my originals. Had the dealer activate the keyless entry for me for a half hrs labor cost, sanded fine, dealer painted, they look fantastic.

And as for flares, Ebay. $100 +shipping per set majority of the time, even already painted ones. This is used of coarse.

EGR offers a nice bigger ( as in more flared, not bulk ) OEM style.

They look really good! How do you remove the mirror housing like you did to be painted? If you don't mind me asking, how much did the dealership charge you to paint those?

Thank you. To remove the mirror caps ( 1 piece like mine ) you tilt the mirror downward, take a flat head driver and find the two clips holding the mirror to the circular power motor plate. lefty righty it and pull the mirror glass off gently. then the mirror glass will pop off, if you have heated mirrors they will hang by the two wires. Then there are 4 torx head bolts holding the cap on that are easily removed by a torx bit on a screw driver. Install is reverse.

The body shop manager gave me a deal of $84, without his deal it would have been $100 or so.

The one painter I called so far said that he thought the fender flairs would chip easy because he would sand them but then have to use filler primer to get smooth and that stuff would chip easy from rocks. Sounds right or find another painter.

edit: I called another painter and they said for them to sand it it would be more cost effective to just buy a new set that are already smooth. I looked around on ebay and see a few options to get them smooth...so I think thats the route I would take.
