Kleen Wheels

I'm really getting tired of all the brake dust on my front rims and I was looking at the Kleen Wheels dust shields. I'm sure there are a bunch of you using them on your trucks...so are they as good as I'm hoping? Any cons to them at all? Seems like a cheap fix/mod,
Thanks

I had my new F150 for a month and bought a set of kleen wheels. I'd say there as good as your hoping. Hardly any dust gets past them. I cant really think of any cons.. some people dont like the way they look and you cant see your front brakes if your ever curious as to how much front pads you got left.. but other than that go for it!

I'm with ya. The brake dust on these trucks is unreal. If I go 2 weeks between washes, the rims are black.

The only reason I washed my truck 6 times or more in the first couple months I had it was to get the brake dust off the front wheels. Now i can go a month with one wash and they still look great.

Tried to get them for my '09 Ranger, but when they sent them out to me they would not fit my rim -- they returned my money with no questions asked. It's odd because the rim on my truck was common for many years of Rangers, and they clearly had the application listed, but yet they didn't even come close to fitting.

Spend a few $$ and replace those pads with NON-OEM pads......Wagner TQ's for an example...no more dust !!!!

I've had the kleen wheels on my truck for four years now, and they fit like a glove if you get the right ones.

X2

I saw an 11th gen F150 with a set of Kleen Wheel bucket things behind their wheels and I thought it was the ugliest thing I had ever seen. Being able to see the rotors behind a nice set of wheels is part of the look IMO.

^Agreed. I love the look of some rotors/painted calipers behind the wheels. Aftermarket pads seem to produce much less dust, especially visible dust, than the stockers.

^^ x3. There great if you don't care about the insides of your wheels and brake dust build up. I had them on my truck when I had 18"s and got another set when I bought my 20's. I loved them at first. But last year I upgraded to some 35's and added a set of Wagner TQ's so I thought I'd keep them off to keep everything cooler due to larger tires and new pads. Well that's when I discovered how terrible these were. I had soo much brake dust built up on the inside of the wheels that I couldn't get the remaining spots and stains off no matter what I used. Seemed like the dust etched right into the wheel and I only had about 5k on the new 20's. If you care about the insides of your wheels you might wanna go another route.

Personally I'd get some Wagner TQ's and be done with them covers. I hardly ever see brake dust on my wheels even after a cpl weeks of driving. Just my .02

I run my truck through a car wash thats washes the underside of your vehicle and when i rotate the tires just wipe off the wheels real quick. simple as that and no need to spend $ on pads when there brand new.

i was really considering changing the pads to eliminate the dust. Im assuming your using wagners ceramic pads, right?

No. I went with the TQ semi-metallics.

oh..ok..and the dust is not as crazy? my wheels are white and i was told ceramic will take care of a majority of it.

Ceramics also eat stock rotors. The dust difference between semi-metallics and ceramics is negligible at best.
