Best backup Camera

Hey Guys... I am new to ford and new to this forum. I just picked up a 2007 Super Crew FX4 with 28000miles on it. Love the truck. Anyways, it's not loaded, but does have leather and FX4 package. I want to install a Backup camera. What is the best one, aftermarket or Ford, but at a reasonable price. How much is it to install the Ford one using the rearview backup mirror?

Thanks...

allot of money if the dealer does it. the later build 08s came with them, the tailgate handle bezel with the spot for the camera, thats only about 30 dollars, but the camera itself is over 300 dollars, god knows how much the rear view mirror is.

you can get a edge programmer cts (somewhere around 600) and then the backup camera (around 200 ), or you can get the tailgate handle bezel, and get a universal camera lens and wire it up yourself to a touch screen dvd reciever.

I picked up this one from Amazon.com and am pleased with it. Full color and night vision. Works perfectly with my Avic f700bt. Tied video into the HU and power from the backup lamps.

I love my setup....Ford talgate handle was $115 and the Camera was $49 (BOYO camera from Sonicelectronix.com) The Quality is awesome and the function works perfect. The camera is wired up to my Pioneer Z120BT headunit. The Talgate handle had to be modified slightly to get the camera to fit. but as you can see it does fit snug adn looks factory!

I will try to get a picture tonight of the Screen whil ein reverse and you can see how it looks. The camera itself is a wide angle camera, no night vision. The Ford camera appears to be a better viewing angle but as quoted above it is $300+.

The BEST? That would be OEM, but as stated earlier, very expensive compared to the aftermarkets. I just ordered the parts from Tasca and they shipped today, Camera $271.85, Handle (Ebony) $116.83, and Wire Assembly $22.14

I preferred the OEM approach, but it is not cheap! Hopefully I'll be installing this mod along with a few others when I come home during Easter weekend.

K, so what if I don't go with the rear view mirror and just want to do the Ford TailGate Camera and wire it to a different LCD screen/monitor? I do not want a wireless one.

Not a problem, you can hook it up to anything that will accept video. Mine will be going to my Kenwood headunit.

The $300 one is free shipping with a "best offer" so you might be able to get it less.
