Picked up a ton of pellets this morning. The drop was only 4" when loaded from empty. I was at least 2" shy of bottoming out the spacer on the axle! Love this truck!

The payloads on these trucks seem to be conservative. I've hauled 2,000 lbs of flooring in my screw without breaking a sweat.

My old Explorer was also an overachiever while my 4Runner was an underachiever.

 

Good deal, glad you had those 2" for those things called bumps J/K. Didn't the 04 and 05 have an extra leaf too?

 

I've always been afraid to let someone fork a pallet onto my truck, always think they will run into it and bang something up.:o

I usually use a trailer and haul 2 or 3 of those pallets of pellets home at a time. It pulls that quite well, however can't stop so easily. No brake controller and the trailer I use isn't equipped with them either.

 

Yes, 04-05 had 4 leaf 06-08 only have a 3 leaf.
I'm not sure why though.

Looks good man! I have put 2600 pounds of quickcrete in the bed of mine. Squatted it a little bit lower than yours. lol. I'll take a pic next time I have that much in there!!

Now where's all the guys yelling about you for clearly overloading your truck and begin a potential safety hazard to others on the road?

I've done 2,450lbs of salt at a time. The rating on the sticker is 1390 lbs. So with me and everythign in/on my truck it's easily over double the rated weight. Sure it was a bit sluggish off the line, didn't stop as well, and got a bit sloppy in the corners. But it held it well and just kept on going. It's always hard to watch the back end drop 6" when they set the pallet down. It seems like it's never going to stop.

You can see the ring on the bumpstop where it was bottoming out.

 

What y'all paying for premium hardwood pellets by the ton now? They keep going up, been using them since '91 myself.


I've hauled a ton or more pellets many times with my '77, happy to see my FX4 will do it as well.

Is it just the photo, or is the tailgate bowed some in the middle?

Something else .... with my '77 I would have them set the pallet of pellets as far in as they could without hitting my tailgate, then weld back the fork truck up, lay another pallet on behind, and use the fork truck to scoot the loaded pallet on to the front. The pallets slide easy on an old style drop in bed liner which is why I have a floor and front wall cut from a discarded bed liner set up for mine. Light as a feather .... almost.

cool,..I've installed Firestone Air Bag Kits and I can put a lot on my mind...

 

Got a deal on some Lignetics for 220 a ton. Was getting factory direct for awhile (helping test) for 165-185 ton. I am trying to stay ahead with the prices of oil going up...soon enough transportation costs etc will put the pellet price closer to 300 a ton! That is too much IMHO!

Yeah, last August cost me $230 a ton for 3 tons, but they delivered. Hamer's Premium Hardwood Pellets sold as Statesman from the Co-op. I remember the good days of 100-125 a ton for good ones. I think I''m gonna load up here next month or two myself, 3 ton will do all winter, some winters we get by on 2. Have a ton saved in the shed for hard times.

Damn .... $300 a ton .... now I won't sleep tonight thinking about it

Have you ever burned any of those Lignetics before?

May not be same type, but that's the name they called them by at Tractor Supply a few years ago and I bought a few bags for trial and they turned out to be made of SYP and hardwood, and they made a mess choking my stove. Stove feeding them trying to get temps up and they woul;dn't burn fast enough to keep clear. I tossed a few bags away.

Just read the label close .... like I say, may not be same at all as that was a good 5, maybe 8 years ago.
