Center Consoles (Swap?)

Im trying to get information on the center consoles and possibly swap ability. I have seen 3 styles

1) Console shift with the flipy lid box
2) 40/20/40 Seat with the flip up box
3) Center console w/o shifter and a flipy lid box

I have the 40/20/40. Can this be swapped to a center console w/o the shifter?

The center console w/o shifter is commonly refered to an XLT console. The swap is easy as pie, just four bolts and about 10 minutes. search on ebay under 'F150 console' thats where most have found them.

Here's one http://cgi.ebay.com/FORD-F150-F250-E...item19c3909cb4

and another http://cgi.ebay.com/2007-F-150-Ford-...item2ea5443eb0

FYI the lid on the xlt style console and the flow-thru style (the one with the shifter) is interchangeable, so if you want a different color or want one in faux leather, just get the one you want and bolt it on. The xlt's came in light gray or tan in textured rubber, the fx4's got black textured rubber, and the lariats got black or tan faux leather. Also the harley/king ranch lids will fit too.

I did the XLT swap. Best thing is you can sell your console jumpseat and come out even like I did.

As seen, its possible. Personally i'd rather have the jumpseat over the console without a shifter cause the girlfriend can still slide over.

There was a guy with a single cab FX4 who converted to the Lariat center shift console even.

Haha, this was the only reason I was considering not doing the swap.

Meh. Once you get old and married you'll want the console.

I already do anyways, but only if I get the center shift swap. Otherwise its a waste of money imo cause my jump seat console is about empty as is.

The larger cup holders in the front of the console are nice. The ones in the flip down were too small IMO.

I have been toying with XLT console swap. I'd love the shifter, but too much work for me to even think about.

I've looked at this and gone back and forth several times. I would do the swap but there are a handfull of times each year that I actually need the front center seat.
