Ive NEEDED my 4x4 only about 2 dozen times or so since i got my FX4 in 07. But those times i needed it were well worth having it instead of being stranded in the middle of nowhere.

Now my 4x4 gets plenty of use, but thats mostly me playing/ having fun

As long as you know the simple secrets you don't need 4x4.. I live in central new york and I when I had 4x4 I think I used it once just to see if it still worked..

I've had basically all 4WD trucks in the past, this is my 2nd 2WD. Being in Michigan it is nice to have 4WD, but with all of the heavy salting and plowing they do here it is not a necessity. I've never gotten stuck on the roads in a 2WD truck here, pull off the road and sure you might need a tow out, but stick to the pavement and you're really at no less disadvantage in driving. With pretty decent tires and LS the truck does pretty good in moderate snows on roads that have not been plowed or treated, and I've not noticed any difference in stopping on slippery roads (ice, snow or mud) they stop (or don't) the same whether 2 or 4WD. To add more traction there are always winter tires and sandbags if needed.

It pretty much comes down to what everyone else has said. It basically comes down to if you are gonna need 4X4 or not, but seeing how you want to go with a 2 wheel drive I am going to assume that you don't I would do the 2 wheel drive with long travel set up!!!
