Took a beat down from ford today

Took the truck in for oil change. Had them look at airbag sys since light just stays on with no codes from ecu or airbag sys. The guys are tracing a short and have to remove seats and carpet as the sys isn't getting power. They also confirmed my pinion seal is leaking.

I saw them hook it up to the computer and a picture of me showed up on the screen. Then this little man walked across the screen. He picked up a wrench and beat me with it right there on the screen!

Just announced>>>https://www.f150online.com/forums/20...ag-recall.html

If your truck qualifies maybe the dealer will show some compassion.....

So the seal is covered under the power train warranty so no cost and they believe the airbag system is the "smart control box". They pointed at the fuse box saying it was the issue. They said it has a short in it. Quote is $857, but it is covered under my extended warranty so just $100 there.

So far I paid $1200 for the extra warranty and have had to claims totaling $1300 - $200 deductibles so I'm getting close to that thing paying off at least. Good thing cause after I install the new valve body and supercharger I think that warranty will be worthless

Hmm its odd that you have to pay for two seperate deductibles. Anytime I have took a car/truck in its always just $100.00 for whatever they performed no matter how many line items on the wrok order. I would have them write a work order to replace both items to try and save yourself the $100.00

"Ford said an air bag wire located in the steering wheel could have been improperly positioned so it would chafe, expose bare copper and create the possibility of a short circuit that would light up the air bag warning lamp.

Ford said most of the air bag issues happened within the first few seconds of the vehicle starting up. The company said it was aware of "one customer that jumped from the vehicle" after the air bag deployed while the truck was parked in a driveway."

Although it sounds like they may have found your problem. You might be bringing the truck back in for the airbags after all.
